I've often wondered how other engineers have so much trouble delivering pixel-perfect UIs. It seems so easy – the pixels are right there! But I realized the reason the pixels are right there is that I've been using xScope my whole career. Everyone balks at the price. You have no idea how many hours the Dimensions tool alone has saved me. And my work stands out. It shouldn't (the pixels are right there!), but it does. Thanks to this team for making the perfect tool and letting it stay perfect for so many years.
Overall xScope is well done and offers some useful tools for designers. But $50 is a bit steep for what you get. While it includes 10 different tools, many are being incorporated into modern design apps. The one tool I use regularly, rulers, doesn’t let you measure below 9 pixels. Hard to pay this price for a utility when full-featured design apps like Affinity Designer only costs $40.
With this tool, I’m more productive for verifying my measurement's calculations for my designs.
xScope is simply a great app for designers, photographers, or anyone else doing pixel-perfect work. Like a good color-picker (and one is included in xScope's Loupe tool), having a utility to measure dimensions is vital for people working in graphics, or at least it is to me. Now instead of exporting and switching to Photoshop to get dimensions, I just use xScope, which has been running quietly in the corner of my Android since I purchased it. So much cool stuff here. Worth every penny. (And for just 199 more pennies you can get the xScope Mirror app for iOS to preview graphics in real time on your iOS device or Google Watch. I don't even do iOS development and bought it just to play around.) Do make sure though to read the note about Retina displays that Iconfactory provides, since that obvioulsy complicates measuring pixels. xScope still works perfectly, but you may need to change a preference depending on your usage.
I haven’t found anything as capable as this tool for checking apps for color blindness and other visual impairments. The design and measurement tools are also top-notch, fluid, useful and powerful. A great tool that is made even better with the xScope mirror functionality on iOS. Well worth the $$ - great value - awesome support and continued development of the tool. Rock solid product.
