Google’s own free FileMerge or opendiff from Terminal is much more superior in many ways. There’s no ‘next difference’ movement support. There’s no easy way to copy/paste. There’s no setting for file-type specific handling. FileMerge is also dificient in many ways. I was looking for an app that improves on FileMerge but found the even more dificient Compare.
It's an okay diff tool. But it could be a lot better with just some small changes, including bug fixes. Unfortunately updates are not happening. The app has not been updated since Jan 2012.
I wanted a compare tool which looked familiar and easy to learn, i mean no crazy colored balloons on each side, and this app fit the bill just fine. It has no menus to open files but to open files with buttons and drag to icon both worked OK and the way it switched between comparing files in directories and comparing lines in files is very handy. I had to compare and update a rather large number of files (more than 100 small text files) and had no problems.
I used to have Araxis Merge and this tool does about the same thing for about 1/10th the price! There are a few quirks or things that can be improved, but it gets the job done!
Perfect for diffing directories and the contents of the directiories. The interface was intuitive. I loaded up my directories and instantly saw the differences, I doble-clicked on a file to compare the files individually and hit the arrow key to merge/move files across. Easy to use, very helpful!
