I'm running High Sierra. This software doesn't allow me to even open a single window. Shouldn't be allowed in the App Store. I will be requesting a refund and complaining to the credit card company if necessary.
I effectively just threw my money in the trash. A complete waste of money. Does nothing. Offers no way to do anything on my Android Retnia. Support link is dead. Complete rip off. I wish I could have used the time lost to purchase an application which actually works to read QR codes on my computer.
I bought this app to scan a QR code through the Android’s built-in camera. It doesn’t do that. In fact this app doesn’t seem to do anything at all. Rip off.
This app, like many of the others out there, is not really a barcode scanner. It does not use the iSight camera or any other camera to read/scan a barcode. If you have a digital copy of the barcode on your computer it will decode that barcode for you. Decoding is not the same as scanning from a camera or other device. Ok, semantics out of the way. The app did decode my barcode once I found my soft copy of it. After the app is installed its icon will be displayed in the system tray. Clicking that icon and getting the dropdown menu is the easiest way to utilize the app. You can only do 2 things with this app - decode an existing barcode that is displayed somewhere on your screen, or generate a new barcode from text that you type into its text box when you select that option. As mentioned above in the previous review, to decode a displayed screen, select the Scan QRCode from Screen option and slide the ghost frame over your barcode. I only used it to decode my QR code, and it only generates QR codes. I don’t know if it would decode other types of barcodes (the ones with the lines). So I give it a high rating because it does what it is supposed to do and the price is right! But it is limited and there is no help or support.
I purchased this app to scan addresses for Bitcoin paper wallets. With the app running and the wallet QR-code displayed on the screen, pressing Option-Cmd-S brings up a translucent square. Use your mouse to position the square over the QR-code (use the scroll wheel or trackpad-scroll to resize the square as needed) then left-click. The code is read and a notice pops up. Pressing “copy” from the notice correctly copies the Bitcoin address to the clipboard. I haven’t tried it for other things yet, but it does read Bitcoin addressees with no problem. Simple, straight forward, and does what it’s supposed to do without a lot of extra fluff and needless configuration and security issues. I’d give it 5 stars if it felt like a highly polished application. It’s still a bit crude, but it gets the job done.
