Minnesota 511 for Android

Tonight it shows road conditions as “normal”, however that is far from the truth. It states no accidents, again far from the truth. With how much money is put into transportation in MN, there should be more accurate tools.

Why are a lot of the cams not working?

This app is horrible clicking on a camera and it sits there and tries to load and then freezes. Once I force close the app I can sometimes get it to work right after not it’s very laggy.

Where is the legend located? Once you access the Help categories, how do you get back to the map? (There’s no “back” button or link to the map.)

It’s difficult to express how frustrated I am with this app. It does not make me feel safe or help me make informed decisions about driving during the winter. It frequently displays inaccurate or outdated road conditions, showing dry/normal roads when in fact the road is icy or snowpacked or wet. The current map doesn’t show nearly enough helpful information about current road conditions at a glance. It’s pretty inconvenient on mobile to have to click every section of my commute to read about those specific road conditions. The map would be much easier to interpret if it had more colors and patterns, and an easy-to-read legend, to show whether the roads have ice, scattered snow, blowing winds, etc. Other winter weather states, like North Dakota and Montana, have successfully created road conditions maps that have much more detail and are easier for travelers to read. Please, please, improve this map so we can feel more informed and more at ease while driving in Minnesota in the winter.
