The BC ferries app is an excellent example of how the company uses mediocre technology to make their customers’ lives miserable. Good luck logging in. Good luck getting a reservation. If you succeed at the above, may god be with you when you show up at the ferry terminal only to be denied entry because the reservation you made never existed.
Really painful app to work with. Everything from the glitchy login to absence of easily accessible real time info.
Terrible user experience.Maybe there is a way to create an account but I sure couldn’t find it. All I could find was a login email address/password and a forgot your password. There is a button that allows you to log in without an account but you can’t make a reservation. This app should be a resume generating event for whomever wrote this app and for whomever approved this app at BC Ferries.
So what about reloads for your B.C. Experience Card, huh? You never bothered to make the website Mobile friendly and have been promising that FOR YEARS! Now this app I thought … At last, BC Ferries has finally got around to fixing the issue…Nope. I guess I expected that you were a normal customer focused service company. Oh well …
After creating an account I kept getting the “incorrect password” message. So I re-input the password various times then even tried resetting it. Hours later all worked with my saved password. They app lied. I never put in an incorrect password. Their system just takes hours to register new accounts. The app should say “password still updating” or “new account not available yet” rather than “wrong password”. BC Ferries took 5 years to make this app, but with all things BC Ferries, nothing works well. Even their staff often fails to show up and ferries get canceled. Note that the privately owned Coho Ferry never has “mechanical delays” or sailings cancelled due to weather (except the Dec. 26, 1996 snow storm when no one could get to the terminal!). And the Coho is way older (1959) than ANY BC Ferries vessel. BC Ferries is simply a mess and has been for decades. The BC Ferry staff sound disgruntled and/or entitled. Even Spirit Class captains have this attitude. No wonder they have so many canceled sailings. Note that complaints are “handled” by staff but not really addressed by senior management.
