…should not be part of the primary UI. I've paid plenty for it, don't make the interface an ad.
Nice diff app but slow with large files.
I was a huge fan of the app since it was released and, while I'm all for compensating developers for their work, $115 for an upgrade, seriously? I'd rather develop my own version... Sadly removing from my dev tools and looking for an alternative from developers who value loyal customers (and offer realistic upgrade pricing).
I was a fan of this version, but if the developers behind Kaleidoscope sincerely think that this tool would be worth a 115USD upgrade, then I think it's time for me start looking for alternatives. I'm a developer myself, so I'm a staunch defender of appropriate app pricing. A quality app takes a ton of time and effort to make, and that needs to be rewarded. But this is waaaaaay overpriced for what it does.
I'd heard about Kaleidoscope many times before deciding to buy it. It always seemed like a handy thing to have around, but the price tag made me hesitate. Eventually, I found myself in a situation where I needed to compare lots of folders on external drives to figure out what was different between two backups, so I bit the bullet. What's really striking to me is that from a computational perspective, comparing text, images, and directory structures are fundamentally different tasks. Despite that, Kaleidoscope handles them all, and it does so very elegantly. I'll definitely be keeping it around.
