1. The 3 Minute Step Test or Queens College Step test is one of many variations of step test procedures, used to determine aerobic fitness.
2. 2.) The athlete stops immediately on completion of the test, where they are guided through the counting of their heart rate for 15 seconds.
3. The theory is that the lower your heart rate on completion of activity, the higher your aerobic fitness base.
4. You don't need to be an athlete to complete the step test.
5. The test is an easy to administer sub-maximal test of cardiovascular endurance and this app does all the work for you so you can concentrate on your test.
6. 1.) The athlete steps up and down on the platform at a rate of 22 steps per minute for females and at 24 steps per minute for males.
7. 3.) The user then enters their HR and this information is then used to determine the level of aerobic fitness and a predicted V02max.
8. The subjects are to step using a four-step cadence, 'up-up-down-down' for 3 minutes.
9. *** The easiest and quickest way for ANYONE to measure their health and fitness.
10. Pace is set by the internal metronome inside the app.

This app is useless. It doesn't provide the beat for the client to set their step cadence. What's the point? I can time 3 minutes myself. I feel like an idiot for buying this.
VO2 is incorrect , comes up as a negative number that's not close to the correct answer according to VO2 calculation.
Definitely does the job, but it would be better if user had the option of increasing the testing duration to 5 minutes. I could also appreciate a feature where the pace of the metronome increases after a certain preset duration has elapsed. I'd be more than willing to pay a little extra if those features are added.
It does exactly what it says… tells you how to take the test, counts down for you, runs a steady metronome during the 3 minute test, then 15 seconds later it asks for your heart rate. It calculate your v02max for you and you can tweet, email, or Facebook the result. I ran into a small bug - after emailing myself the results, I couldn't exit the email screen of the app. Small bug, otherwise happy with the app.
It's a very nice app to get fit, the interface is well designed and easy to use. It is useful but it could have more features like a heart rate test. Overall it's a good app, but it could be better with a few improvements.
