Cloud Baby Monitor for Android

I saved hundred of dollars by using this app and my ancient iphones as baby monitors. It's reliable and effective. My only gripe is that the white noise goes on and off suddenly instead of fading the voume up and down. Other than that its perfect! Easy to use, easy to set up, easy to add units. I can see and hear everything thats going on and even talk to my child as I come to comfort him. Great app.

I don't have kids but I still use iCloud Baby Monitor all the time. I do have an old Android 4s and use it to monitor my 3D printer. I can monitor the print jobs on my Android, Mobile, Macs or even Google TV. It works great.

I had an old Android so I decided to save some money and repurpose it as a baby monitor using the Cloud Baby Monitor app. It seemed like a bit of a hack but this works pretty well. I was then gifted a Nest Cam so I switch to that. I’d always read great things about Nest Products. OMG was it a pain to set up. I’ll save you some agony by explaining that you cannot set that up on an Android or Mobile but need to do that on a computer… but not a Android operating on any remotely recent operating systems, only operating systems older than Catalina. Google expects and asks that you roll back your operating system to set the camera up. What a joke. Fortunately my wife doesn’t update her software so I was able to set the camera up on hers. And to my surpirise, the Nest Cam camera is WORSE than my Android 4’s camera? It’s “night vision” is less sensitive than the Android 4 and simply switches to black and white to simulate UV light sensitivity? Eeek. The Nest does have a nice wide angle so you can put it close to the baby but that’s all it has going for it. I can’t even monitor the Nest from my computer, there is no Android Nest App, only mobile. If you enjoy painful PC installations, driver incompatibilities and headaches in general, get the Nest. Otherwise Cloud Baby Monitor is pretty good. I didn’t give it 5 stars because I’ve had issues having to re-pair the viewing unit to the camera, even after having paired them previously. Also, it bugs you to enroill in some kind of remote viewing, even if you don’t want it. You may sign up just to get it to stop.

It would be great if the app could work with HomeKit compatible cameras. The lack of night vision is the biggest downside versus having a dedicated baby monitor device. A HomeKit compatible video cam with night vision would solve this.

Love this baby monitor app. I’ve had the iOS version for a few years. and this desktop verion is great to have now too. Love it! good work
