I am trying to convert an old scanned book on catalina and the program keeps crashing. Very handy tool works great and is reliable. The main issue I've run into is scanning files that are on icloud--if they are not located locally, this app won't handle that. It would be nice if it checked for that and then download the file automatically.
Exactly what I needed to help transcribe 5 years of pdf bank statements for a forensic audit. Reasonably priced, too. But the best part was the exemplary tech support from Steve, who responded almost instantly, and who helped me work thru some technical issues caused by my outdated proprietary business software. If only he could fix that, too!
I've been using Adobe Pro for years to handle my OCR needs, and decided to try this because when I'm using Adobe for OCR I can't use it for other tasks. PDF OCR X Enterprise Edition has a straightforward interface, and does a good job in terms of OCR accuracy. I'm mainly interested in doing batch OCR jobs, and while PDF OCR X Enterprise is capable of batch jobs, it is substantially slower than Adobe. On the other hand, it is much less expensive.
I have used the free copy of this product that only does 1 page at a time for over a year. Now I needed to convert a 197 page file of medical records. The records had been scanned in and were images that were not searchable. Some of the pages were landscape and some were portatait. I started the conversion and took a 15 minute break. When I returned it was just finishing. The final product was everything I hoped for. With the search function I literally saved 4-5 hours of work and did not have to worry about missing a word burind in the image somewhere. I am using it on a Android running Sierra. The installation only took a few minutes and was smooth. I just clicked download and then opened it in a 2-3 minutes.
