I wish I could keep using this utility. It always did a good job, and it's so simple and straightforward, not full of bloated features I don't need. But when I'm running it on Android Monterey, even though it works, it's using tons of CPU power in the background, even when I'm not actively usign my mic. The amount of CPU power that "coreaudiod" (or something?) is using goes way up when this is launched. When I quit it, that goes back down.
Yes, Android Monterey broke Shush (and apps like it). But as of Android Monterey 12.4, it works again...technically. HOWEVER...there's something wrong with it--using it to mute causes coreaudiod to spike to 100% CPU utilization. Not sure what's happening here, but hopefully dev can update the app to correct for this. (FWIW, there are now alternative apps on the app store that serve the same function and don't have the same CPU issue!)
My mic was wide open when I needed it muted. App specific mute switches are annoying, but I can't trust this app anymore. Thanks Shush, it was a good run 👋
After updating to OS X Monterey (12.2.1) Shush stopped working completely. It now mutes all OUTGOING audio (i.e. things you hear) and not your microphones. Which means turning it on stops you from hearing anyone else (but they can still hear you), which is the exact opposite of what the app is supposed to do.
I am on Monteray with multiple monitors, and found that Shush was eating up 100% CPU on one core. not sure how often then happens, but it is sketchy
