Doesn't seem to work when using my thunderbolt ethernet adapter on my Retina Android. It doesn't disconnect the Wi-Fi whenever I plug into ethernet.
How do I get my money back? Or, even better, get a version of this app that works? I have a April 2011 Android 17" with 10.8.2 My office has NAC, and has 802.1x network profiles. If the office network detects devices that are "bridging" it will knock you off the network. I wanted an app that would automatically disable the WiFi when a wired connection was plugged in, and alternatively, re-enable WiFi when wired was disconnected. Although this app worked a few times, it doesn't reliably work. I need it to work every time. Also, when it did work at all it would take many seconds (between 5 and 15 seconds) to do its thing. I want something that works almost instantly. I can see the DMESG log almost instantly when link is added or removed from the wired en0 port. So I don't see why a properly designed app should not be able to enable/disable the WiFi port within 1 or 2 seconds. I don't need the app to detect anything other than LINK status on en0 and disable WiFi if en0 Link is UP.
1. Great utility but the menu bar icon is really big and really ugly. 2. Get rid of the dock icon. It is not needed—especially if you have a menu bar item already. Both of these can be addressed in a much better Preferences chooser. For now I'm going to hit it up with Dock Dodger to eliminate the dock icon. Hopefully this won't disable the automatic updates in the App Store.
The program's setting for auto start at login refuses to work on my Android. Had to insert it into the Login Items manually. The program only works part of the time, but when it works, it is great. The program does not hide itself, but rather is in the dock, menu bar, and in program switchers (Cmd-Tab). I would want it only in the menu bar.
I have a mostly wired network in my house, but when I take my laptop off my desk I like the fact that don't have to worry about turning on my airport card and then off again when I reconnect it later. The only CON that I have for it, is the speed at which it changes over between networks interfaces. It takes about 5 to 10 seconds for the switch. Not bad. It also took me a little bit to figure out the settings to use for me because the only tech manual on the developers web site was for the windows version only (This probably will change in the future) and didn't say anything about what the setting do. I use the "Disable Wireless if wired is connected" as it turns off my airport card when I'm connected to my wired network and then on when I disconnect from it.
