The old version was very usefull. With the current update the ui is just bad.
If I wanted to think through regex, the terminal is here. Was looking for easy wildcard replace, but it doesn't exist here.
I have a standardized file naming convention that I've been using for about 20 years (e.g. 2020_01_03 Review of File Rename Pro.pdf). Unfortunately, when I receive files they are rairly in this format, and renaming files manually is too labor intensive to be practical when you have hundreds or thousands of files. File Rename Pro is pretty awesome. Adding the date to the front (or back) is dead simple, as are most of the functions. Some of the functions take a bit of trial and error, but overall I'd say this is user-friendly. Great app, great value.
The preview window can’t be expanded. Plain stupid design decision. Nice big monitor, but winddow needs to be scrolled back and forth to see the results of renaming. Don’t bother, what else can be wrong? not waiting to find out. Getting refund from Google
I had a bunch of video files that I wanted to rename. You know the type - the cryptic, completely unhelpful IMG_0437.MOV type of file names. I wanted to rename them all with the video creation date as part of the file name, like this: “Video yyyy-mm-yy-HH-mm-ss.mov”. File Rename Pro makes this a piece of cake. You set up your renaming rules in the main panel, than drag a folder into the panel. The app then renames all the files in the folder. I am giving this app five stars beause it did exactly what I wanted it to. It has other options to rename files in other ways, but I didn’t use them. I will say the configuration settings take a little getting used to. You’ll have to play with them a bit to get what you want. But that’s still much better than doing hundreds of file name changes manually.
