Whats new in DiskMark v2.3

6 things about DiskMark - harddisk benchmark

1. + Random read/write speeds which is the performance you experience when opening or using programs that read and write a lot of files to disk.
2. Test the performance of your solid state drives (NVME/SATA), hard disk drives and flash drives (pen/usb) in just one minute.
3. + Sequential read/write speeds which is the performance you see when copying large files.
4. DiskMark is specifically built to take these into account so that the read/write performance reported in the benchmark is as close to the real-life performance.
5. The latest NVME/M.2 SATA SSDs employ various techniques such as SLC caching and DRAM buffers to showcase better speeds.
6. DiskMark is extremely simple to use and invaluable if you work with any USB drives (flash or external harddisks).

Reviews

  • Total Garbage

Won't work on my main Android volume of a brand new computer. Says it needs to be done to a volume you can write to which the main Android one clearly is. It's my application folder and has full permissions. I want my money back.

  • Driver Required

The developer doesn't mention that a kernel extension is required for testing external USB drives. The driver won't install on my system. $4.99 down the drain.

  • Good Product, but...

You really need a list of Google products to compare your own Android with that of others.

  • a bit basic for me but the numbers do not seem right

I compared the numbers to other software on a Android and also tried my pc. USB C ssd 1tb. Seems not to be right. xbench gives me 4k blocks and 256k blackss with a lot higher speed rating on the writing as the other software i tried. and on Random the numbers with this software are way lower telling me something is not right with this software.

  • Possibly the only real HDD speedtest on OSX

I have a few SSDs that use SLC caches and no other tool has been able to test the disk speeds accurately since they usually read and write only from the cache. This is the only program that I have seen exhaust the SLC caches and provide the resulting “real” disk speed. Well worth the asking price.
