    XLIFFTool Reviews

    • Works great for simple cases

If you are, for example, an app developer who needs to export Xcode translations and then view or edit them externally before importing, this is the perfect free application for that. Great work, thanks to the developer for creating this!

    • Free and works.

It lets me open and edit XLIFF files, and it was free. Great for making small edits to the localization for my apps, but it might not be polished enough for heavy duty translation projects. Overall, great, and thanks! Beats the "free" web tools that ask for full access to my Twitter account...

    • Neat tool with lots of room for improvement. Kudos to the developer

I thought it doesn’t work but I ACCIDENTALLY made it work because I forgot to uninstall it yesterday! The reason I thought it was not working at all is because the app doesn’t have a GUI when you just run the app from application launchpad. I was planning to just open my xliff file created from Xcode with it and just deal it with manually through xml format like old times :) . I double clicked my xliff file, expecting it to run through Xcode and it had a different GUI. I thought it was a new feature of Xcode since I just downloaded the latest version of Xcode recently then I was surprised that the XLIFFTool Icon is in my dashboard. That is when I realized that the app works! I was gonna give it 4 stars with the consideration for being the first version but it has a bad behaviour of putting blank targets for items that has no translation. These are the list of my observations that could be improved: 1. Doesn’t have any GUI on startup (Feels like it doesn’t work for new users) 2. Can’t search/filter for no translation items 3. Can’t sort by clicking the title (not essential but nice to have) 4. Messed Up Xcode xml formatting when saved (Doesn’t matter if you use a tool like this for your xliff) 5. Can’t copy Source to get the original formatting 6. Search/filter function is erratic 7. If you leave an item with no translation, it will put a blank target instead of leaving it alone. So when you test your app on that localization, it will have blank for that translation instead of Capital Letters, meaning that it is not yet translated. (This is a Bad behaviour that would lead to something worse later on) 8. I have a translated string with format of creating another line or (/n) and it messes up the formatting

    • Doesn't seem to work

It just quits whenever I open an xliff file.
