This app works as shown in the screenshots - providing you information about any file. However, it overrides the system to open all files in this app! Any file that I hadn't set a default for (text file, movie, even photos), would open in this app instead of the app it was supposed to open with (like TextEdit, QuickTime, or Preview). In addition to being incredibly annoying, there's a big privacy issue here. There's no way to be sure that this app isn't sending reports on the files you open back to their servers, and if every file you open launches this app, then it's a big issue! The only way to fix this is to either delete the app or individually re-assign every file type. On top of this, the app pops up ads on occasion for other apps and products. These two issues are deceiving and not as advertised. Definitely uninstalling.
I honestly thought that what it would do would be letting me open up exec files and edit them, but instead I try to watch an mp4 file and it opens up there most apps do that too now. It gets annoying and I have never been able to use it.
It seemed helpful when needed to give the information I was looking for about a file but it seemed to take over where I didn’t want it to. Double clicking on a file that should have a program correctly associated with it still opened in File Info Pro. And when I would get things correctly aligned using the program still had too many ads to try other programs. I would pay a small price just to strip away the ads, and wished it wouldn’t take over my file associations...
People who write free software are amazing. As you are obviously talented and in that, I encourage you open source the software. Accessibility to the source presents the opportunity for others to contribute or even be inspired to create something. 😌
Why oh why does it need to take over as the default application for several file types that it cannot even run?
