While the developer does reply quickly to inquiries, I hit a problem so simple that I have to wonder about code quality in the rest of the software and I would not trust it with math. Basically, if you type [ 1+1] in the program, you get 1+1=0. The stray space character after the open bracket screws up the software when it should be more tolerant of variations in input.
This is literally just a glorified instance of TextEdit (even the preferences dialog is the same) with some calculation ability built-in. It is not intuitive to calculate anything since you need to use brackets for the software to recognize it as a calculation. If you want to calculate straight-out (without brackets), you are offered to buy a nice little in-app purchase (Pro Pack). This doesn't even recognize exponents! I typed a simple expression (3^2) and it gave me 5 (it interpreted the ^ as a +). Don't waste your money or time on this. The developer needs to get serious to compete in this app store. Shell out the $19.99 and get Soulver. It's what the developer of this app was aiming for.
interesting idea, but there are many strangenesses. First of all, it's not entirely intuitive how to use it, and the screenshots don't really make it clear. The video is a little better, but it still seems a bit fuzzy (especially what happens if you are trying to use the list or table features). Secondly, the application pizza-wheeled on me the first time I tried to use a list. Finally, it seems that there needs to be a way to hide expressions and just have their value. I might want to display salary, tax, and net, but not show "tax = salary * .03", for example. I don't see any way to do this.
