This app made me change the password every time I wanted in. Finally just deleted it.
I’ve been traveling in Italy for over a month. Nearly 30 journeys booked and taken, no issues. Those with the date problem, it’s the settings on your phone not the app. It’s telling you what time the train leaves in your home time zone you can fix that in settings. Changing tickets also a breeze, and the train status feature including platform information has been accurate sometimes with the platform information before It is on the reader board. You need to know the local names of the stations to book. Find the city you are going to on google maps. Click the little blue train icon and it will give you the correct name. For example Florence is Firenze Santa Maria Novella, Rome is Roma Centrale.
Let me get the gripes out of the way. There was an instance where we were unable to exchange or cancel our tickets, no error message or reasoning was given - so we ate the cost. Also, we found that bus information wasn’t great. That said - this app is a must-have if you are traveling in Italy on the train system. Great for planning, reliable and timely updates on train status, can pay via Google Pay. Truly a stress-reducing tool. We turned up at the stations usually knowing the train status and what track it was on (regional tracks are a bit tough to find in Firenze N.S.M). We skipped the lines of other tourists, trying to buy/validate tickets. Well-done Trenitalia!
Even if you’ll only be in Italy for a while, this app is a huge help in viewing train rides, buying tickets, and checking updates for delays. There’s no surcharge for buying online, you won’t have to deal with paper tickets, and on non-Freccia trains you can make exchanges very easily. Super helpful for getting around the country flexibly
I got lost and wasted 2 hours because this app didn’t tell me what I needed to know to find the right platform, and inadvertently took another train departing at the same time. For e-tickets, the app displays the train number and stations of embarkation and disembarkation ONLY. It doesn’t say the line name, the platform, or the destination of the train that will appear on station signs. (Actually some info is hidden behind tapping the “On Time” text which is completely undiscoverable.)
