It may be a free app BUT it kept rerouting me for no reason. I want them to please fix that and also make the screen look more realistic. It looks so old and out dated compared to all others. Honestly I just use google maps through Bluetooth on my vehicle
Application shows it is connected, but not reflected in My apps - to allow it.
I had wanted to switch into a Toyota from GM for quite some time, mainly for Toyota reliability and aesthetic. However, my old Malibu had Apple CarPlay, which I absolutely loved. I new my 2018 Corolla did not when I bought it. I was fine with that because I wanted a Toyota vehicle. However, my first long trip in which I needed to use GPS, I had my first experience with Scout. It is absolutely atrocious. The most non-user friendly app I’ve ever used. It is complicated and unpredictable upon start up. Outdated and clunky as far as navigating around the app. And it’s direction giving us not at all helpful and is potentially dangerous. It does not show streets or a map as you approach a turn or exit, just the direction you’re going to go. Sometimes that is hard to gauge because your constantly wondering where exactly you need to turn. It will give vocal direction somewhat too early, and then will not repeat when you actually need it without having to manually press a repeat button on the screen. You cannot change or add a route while driving, and while I understand it from a safety standpoint, it takes this way too far. It also will take you on unnecessary detours and routes. It had me get off of a main boulevard onto side streets only to lead me back onto the same boulevard I was on in the first place. I find myself exiting the app completely and using Google Maps on my phone. I hope Toyota has or is planning to abandon this interface entirely. I hope it becomes a possibly to update the infotainment system in my 2018 Corolla to use Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Residents of Central Ohio will be disappointed by lack luster, out dated map
Will we ever see moving maps again? When I bought my Toyota Tundra the salesman said moving maps was included however it has never worked since the day I bought it. I had read that moving maps was removed but would “return in the near future”. That was 2019. Will we ever see moving maps again?
