Restoring backups to new device no password needed to gain access. So if attacker has your Google credentials ur photos will be breached . Transfering data from old phone to new also no password needed to enter the app . Developer seems to have added backdoor . Perhaps someone needs to show the how the breach works to him .
I've used this app for several years. I'd previously left it a five-star review, and paid to unlock the ad-free version. I'd even found the developer to be responsive to bug reports in the past. It's been increasingly buggy, which I now realize just coincided with iOS updates, because now that it got bad enough for me to check the app's page for other bug reports, I can see the app has been abandoned by the developer. It was a great app, but hasn't been for awhile now, and if the most recent developer comment is three years ago, you know nothing's getting fixed. It shouldn't still be listed in the store. It's got a lot of issues on iOS 15. It can't be trusted anymore. I'd love to see the developer update the app, but I have to say now: do not download or use it.
Let’s start by saying this app is easy to use and has great functions, would be 5⭐️ and would happily pay the $2.99 or even double that for this app HOWEVER, after uploading all of my videos now I can’t play them!! AT ALL! I can’t even export them back to camera roll!! I’ve tried airdrop and saving to files neither makes the videos playable! Fix this and I will gladly give five stars!! UPDATE: I figured a way around the video issue! Save it to files and add the “.mp4” extension. This will make it playable again! From then on DO NOT import videos from the app! Export them to securepad from camera roll or wherever and they will play without the workaround! Also increasing my rating because for FREE or even $2.99 this is a really good app and I don’t mind it being a little finicky.
For those who are complaining about the video playback, instead of transferring the files from inside the app, go to your Android photos and select videos- press the share button on the bottom left, scroll down and you’ll see Securepad, press and go back to securepad, you’ll see the files there. Transferring the files this way let’s you play videos inside the app
This would be a great app if the video actually played back within the app. Apparently, the video player is not actually seeing the encrypted video as playable? It displays as being a “null” file, with 0:00 time, at playback. This is a serious flaw that the developer needs to fix to make this great. Jpegs and animated gifs do work. However, to play the gif requires you press a “gif” button in the middle of the pic - it will pause when you tap the screen and display that button again (in the middle of the pic again - not ideal if you want to see the gif at a stopped position without the button). Overall, I’d say the video player is a bit wonky - there are better ones. Here is encouragement though - this app has very real promise, and the need for on-device encryption is soon to be a reality when iOS 15 arrives (search up its rumored background scanning of pics).
