Reviews

  • Intuitive and well-thought out

I have used many art apps and kept a few quality ones. Just by accident I tried PocketBrush and was pleasantly surprised at the ease of use. Hope the developer will continue to add brushes and tools. Also would be great to add a preview of brush strokes and an opacity slider. Will recommend!

  • Some Feature Requests and Praise.

I wanted to start this review by stating that I really, really like and appreciate the brushes contained in this art application. I can only guess that a lot of work went into crafting these very useful brushes and I'm very appreciative of that. I also want to say that this is one instance where I actually thought it was worth it and made in-app purchases in an application. This is mainly due to the fact that the developer was smart enough, in my opinion, to allow users to test out each brush in the brush packs before buying them (which you can do just by clicking on any brush in these IAP brush packs and you'll be presented with a new window to test that particular brush.) Though, I should say that I would have preferred if there had been an option to purchase all of the brushes at once, instead of buying each pack individually. So, while I am very happy with the quality of the brushes I purchased and how well I believe the application functions overall. Well, I would still like to make some feature requests to the developer. (Note - I wanted to make these requests outside of a review by emailing the developer. But, frustratingly enough, the only way to contact this developer was through a link to his Facebook page. I believe that that is truly substandard customer service by not providing a normal email link on a website. Plus, I don't currently have a Facebook account, nor do I ever want one. And I find it very, very annoying that the only way that I might hope to get support for this application, is by signing up with that privacy-invasive social media website/network. I would ask that you please fix this and offer an email address for us to use when we need support for the app, thank you.) Now, on to my feature requests and I would appreciate it if you would please consider my requests, thank you. 1. I would very much like an opacity slider/function to be added to PocketBrush please. I find it very odd that this program offers no way to adjust the opacity of a brush when painting. 2. I also wanted to make request about adding the option for creating canvases in different resolutions (i.e. 2048x2048, 2048x1536, 4048x4048, basically just have the option to create paintings in HD canvas resolutions please. Having that option is extremely important to me as an artist. Because, creating a painting on a non-HD canvas, well, it really diminishes the overall quality of a project I believe and leaves little room to use it elsewhere in my opinion. Those are really the only detractors from the the application that I personally found (well, and not offering an email address for support and questions as I mentioned above.) And as I said, I hope that the developer will please consider implementing those two features into Pocket Brush, thank you. Android 6 Plus/ iOS 9.3

  • Missing Key Stuff

The set up is very nice and clear, but there's one thing missing, layers. How is someone supposed to make a good picture they're aren't layers. There are three main step for a good well created and proportional piece, there's the sketch, the out lines, and the final lines. Which you can't have all on one layer because it would be more than hard to get rid of the sketch and outlines. Another thing that I guess could be counted as missing is the blur tool. Now it seems like you have many ways already to blur colors together, but the normal blur tool that is seen in other apps blends and blurs colors together in a very neat way. So adding that would be better for cleaner, neater blends. But over all, I think the most needed thing is the layer setup. So hopefully you'll add that in the future. Oh! And I wasn't clear about this earlier but when I say layers I mean like being able to add and delete them as you choose. And being able to just hide the layers to see what it looks like with out the layer, but another thing about layers is that you can save a picture the way it looks when a layer is hidden… …I just realized that sounded very demanding, but I wasn't trying to demand anything. I was more trying to make a request/suggestion. (Smile On!)

  • Impressive

I was a huge "Art with Friends " fan. I have been searching for a similar drawing app since AWF was sadly cancelled. So far, Pocketbrush is the best app I've found as a replacement. These are the things I like about this app: 1. A variety of "tools" ( pencil, pen, highlighter, watercolor brushes, oil paint brushes, etc) 2. Unlimited colors available for no charge 3. Ability to resize and adjust your "pen/pencil/brush strokes" 4. The only drawing app (that I've found) that has a "watercolor" tool, which makes it easy to shade, contrast and highlight 5. Reasonably priced!!! It's a great price for all that you get. Cons: 1. There is no "game" element, like AWF 2. No ability to interact with other users 3. No gallery showcasing other artists work 4. Because there is no gallery or interaction w/ other users, there is no no ability to "watch back" how users drew what they did ( I loved this feature of AWF) 5. No clear tutorial: it's a learn as you go thing and there is a lot to learn!
