PDF to Html Converter + for Android

Don’t let the price fool you. This worked very well for me on a complex document with tables and images. I looked at writing my own converter before I found this. It would have taken me two weeks to produce an app that handles PDF this well and I have 35 years of programming experience. Note: - it writes every page into a separate HTML file so you will need to concatenate if you want a single file - there is no documentation AFAICT - the app description says it runs in batch but how is not obvious

My problem was that I have a bunch of pdf files that contain what appears to be data in spreadsheet format, and I wanted to extract that data to Numbers and manipulate it there. I thought a utility that could transform pdf to html would do the trick, but all it really did for me was create a web graphic of the data, Then I thought what I needed was an OCR application to convert the pdf to text. Unfortunately, what it does really well is to convert the pdf text to either searchable pdf ot to a simple text file, which makes it difficult to create a Numbers file from. Finall, I searched for a pdf to numbers converter, and found “Tabula”. Tabula askes you to show it where the spreadsheet data is in the PDF file (using a rectangular box highlight), but the results are in a csv format that Numbers can display for you. Thanks to everyone who tried to help, and to the Tabula developers for the best think I’ve found yet (and it’s free…).

It works well and seems to do pretty good at extacting images. A bargain for the price.

This DOES NOT create HTML — instead it makes a .png image of each page, and then an “html” page containing a link to the single image for the page. COMPLETELY WORTHLESS

I tried 4 other pdf to html conversion programs before this one. they all failed on the tables, totally out of sync or completely messed up to the point of unusable. PtHFC was very fast, 30 pages with images & tables in less than 5sec.! Images captions are slightly off but are easily correctable. Formatting is nicely preserved. Images are extracted and put in an images sub-folder. Some browsers don’t format tables correctly. What this doesn’t do is build a table of contents or index pages. html code is very clean compaired to other apps. No garbage, no spam, no watermark, not even a “Converted by” note. really clean.
