Three years ago I reviewed an early version of this app and found it practically useless (because it had no search functions and was simply a catalog of birds). But this version is greatly improved and rectifies some of the problems I mentioned earlier. You can now narrow your search by country or by species and you can search the names and descriptions for various terms. Furthermore the app claims to list all 3000+ species in South America and, a real bonus, allows you to download the whole database for off-line use. I would suggest two more improvements for the next version: 1) including a mention in each description of “similar species” to make comparisons easier; and 2) adding a function that allows narrowing search results by color, size, shape, etc. But overall this app is a vast improvement over the earlier one and is now a useful tool for identifying birds in the field. Felicitaciones!
Or, the downloaded data just disappears. Was working fine on iOS9, but not since iOS 10 update. I have contacted support twice, and no update to fix the problem. Update: bugs fixed , works well, all data downloaded is stable. Thank you! Crashes a problem again July 1.2017. Please fix
Do not waste your money on this. Absolutely awful app. Buggy, clunky, incomplete. I feel ripped off. Avoid!
This app has much potential but it keeps crashing! Please fix this!
I purchased this app to help identify birds that I had captured images of while in South America. I was very surprised to discover that while they may have data on 3000 birds they only have images for a small number of them. I would guess that between 10 and 20 per cent have images. When I tried to contact support using the link in the app the email came back no such address. This app needs a lot of work before it can be useful for bird identification.
