so far all the search for backup items dont work this is no exception
Its good. I got a backup mode sync running right now from an FTP server on my local wifi to my main computer. Sync data could be around 20GB. A feature that I really want is to have different file comparison modes like md5 and crc. I transferred about 8GB of MP4 files using an FTP client and some of the MP4s has errors while opening. Probably 300 of 2000 videos has errors. I didn’t test if the videos are broken on the server yet but I still want all of those file comparison features and I want to enable them all for a good chance that the transfer is good. Another feature I would like is a transfer speed limit. If I transfer files at the full 600KB/s over wifi then the internet will fail for other devices. I think I am using QoS on my network but still it is limited especially on large GB files. I like to limit transfer speed to 50KB/s during network peak hours and then at different times of the day limit it to 400KB/s. —— Edit: It wasn’t syncing with my FTP server anymore but I found that to be an OSX problem. I needed to eject the FTP connection then connect again for the new files to show.
Smart sink is a great program for syncing and backing up. I've e-mailed the developers a couple times with suggestions. Each time within a week they made the changes to the program. I switched to this program because I use at FCP X and it will read the package contents and backup just what's changed.
For all I know this could be a great program, however the Lite version is too handicaped to make a decent evaluation. Since you cannot open subfolders, I find it a little dangerous to potentially clobber your files while working blind.
