One of the best ways to listen to music in my new Chevy is from thumb drives or SD cards. Unfortunately, Android puts a bunch of ‘hidden’ files on the portable media and the car stereo not only sees them all, but takes a second to examine each one before going to the next song. There was a Terminal solution I found online that worked for thumb drives, but not for SD cards. This simple 99 cent app cleaned them all perfectly. So if you’re in the same boat (car) I am this is the solution you’re looking for.
Got rid of pesky . files very quickly on a thumb drive used for music.
Used with my 2012 Android Mini and an SD card that I use in the stereo of my car, before my file list would be filled with files starting with . but after ejecting the card using this application those files are gone and the file listing in my car is as expected. Thank you. The only reason i didn't rate 5 stars is that I think the settings are poorly described like "Enable external HDD". My external HDD works great thanks, what does your program do to it if I check the box? I would like to know exactly what they do before I check anything off. It seems translated from another language. Please include a help screen that gives additonal details so maybe I can better understand the options (checkboxes).
It doesn't do anything. It was a waste of money. It only says "can only use volumes" when I drag the volume over.
Tried on several types of external media including thumb drives and external USB hard disks. Tried OS X and various DOS formatted disks as well. Nothing but crashes… Keep looking elsewhere.
