I just downloaded this to catalog a set of books donated to my school. The ISBN auto lookup makes entering books easy. You can set preferences to default to ISBN so you just type in the number, hit Enter, and the book information comes up if found. Custom field are on the second data entry screen, and they can be labelled and added to the list view. Export is only to XML; I would like a CSV export or something to get it into Excel. It would also be cool if the there was a setting to export the images that come in with the ISBN lookup. Search feature works. No manual or documentation, but the app is easy to use if you just try things (like writing over the custom field labels, or hitting the Plus icon in the lower right corner to Save and Add.)
I wish this app was paired with an IOS app that read the bar codes for the ISBN numbers. One thing I noticed it that it does not recognize early 70s late 60s SBN numbers. And I found that it does not allow you to copy a title so you can easily indicate that it is owned is harcopy and eBook for example. Since I have not found other solutions, this one is easy to use, but I hope that this review will give the authors some ideas to improve it.
I really like this program for its ease of use, simple design, and customizabilitiy. Excellent options and custom tabs -- I just wish that the software would recognize articles in the title of a book when it sorts them alphabetically. That would be a great, simple update! Still, wonderful app for anyone with a book collection, much simpler and cheaper than Delicious Library, and much better than bargain options. I recommend it.
I love this app but I wish there was a way to scan the barcode of the books in as well as have the manual option.
The application seems simple and intuitive; the look-up feature using ISBN did not fail in the 85 books entered since purchase an hour ago. Good value for the price.
