Like so many recent reviewers, I bought this app years ago, believing the developers that I was paid in full. They have now switched to a subscription model and have made the bad business decision to insult and not honor the paying customers who got them here. Like many users who paid for this app, I will not be paying a subscription fee on top of this. I wish the developers everything they deserve.
Don’t update or download this app! So; now they’re offering a new PAID version of the app? Does this mean we are able (you are permitting us) to start all-over again ...hmmmmm??? Now why would I prefer to do this? Common guys; just grandfather the original for those of us old -timers who paid big $$$$$$$ FYI: eBird, Merlin, and Audubon apps are FREE (and better too).🤫👍
I’ve been using this app for many years. I have been busy and hadn’t used it for a couple months. I fired it up today to identify a bird and was shocked to learn that my paid-for app had switched to subscription. Instead of freezing the existing app and charging for updates they will be taking it away unless I’m willing to subscribe. No thanks. If I need to drop more money I’ll be giving it to a developer that appreciates those who support them.
After purchasing iBird Pro — and it wasn’t cheap: $20, if memory serves — I now see the creators are keeping my money, refusing to honor my purchase, and attempting to charge my credit card a subscription fee. This is fraud, plain and simple. The perpetrators ought to face a hefty fine and possibly jail time. Thankfully, there are other birding guides available that aren’t marketed by greedy and cynical creators and I suggest you send your business their way. As for iBird Pro? Steer clear of it.
After purchasing the app and buying a couple of the updates now they’re forcing everyone into a monthly subscription to continue using it. If you bought a car paid it off the last thing you want is to be forced into a lease after to keep driving it.
