I really like this app. I cannot pretend to any great expertise in Latin dictionaries. But I like this one because it identifies words if you give any of the many forms of the word. Latin, of course, has endings which can multiply the forms to a bewildering number. And sometimes there are forms that are just unrecognizable by a humble student such as myself. I recently, for example came across the term "lautus erit" in Familia Romana chapter XXX. I could not figure it out. But this app got me to the future perfect passive form of the term for wash. I had puzzled over that for days before I finally broke down and consulted this app. It got me there in moments. So I recommend it.
Logistically this is a great app just like Ultralingua's other apps. As far as quality of information (amount and accuracy) this app needs a lot of work though. I am disappointed at the lack of accuracy in the translations for some words and at the fact that when I look up a noun or verb I do not see declension number or principle parts. Please update, I trust Ultralingua's apps to be of high quality.
I just upgraded my Ultralingua Latin app, and I am blown away! This is wonderful. Easy to read, comprehensive, informative, showing word history (roots and origins in earlier languages), complete and accessible complete conjugations. I am really impressed. Thanks so much. LatinMom
This dictionary is virtually useless. Clearly 3/4 of all Latin spoken is ecclesiastical Latin, and this dictionary is no help with even the most basic of Latin words. Ultralingua needs todo a much better job.
I have several other Ultralingua apps that I find very useful. That having been said, why isn't this app formatted like those? No conjugations? I know Latin is a "dead" language, but there is still a lot to be learned from studying it. Conjugations would greatly help give this app another star or two, as well as help its users get more from it.
