I’ve been using this app for at least 6 years and I’m amazed at how well the developer has continued to support and improve it. Math Ref was worth a lot more than the 2 or 3 bucks I originally paid for it, and it’s only gotten better since then The developer should add a tip jar so us long-time users can continue to support them.
It’s a nice reference source for those who already know a subject. If you have a background in, say, trigonometry, and you know that a certain formula exists but can’t quite remember what it looks like, then this is a useful reference. I don’t think it is meant to be a learning tool. If you have no idea about trigonometry, for example, this won’t do you much good. This runs on a tablet but is really meant only for a phone. On my Mobile everything is confined to the left-hand one-third of the screen leaving the rest of the screen blank. Maybe not a problem for most people, but I use my tablet more than my phone so that is kind of disappointing.
It's just an organized collection of formulas. If you keep encountering hard to understand mathematical concepts explained in impenetrably arcane mathematical jibber-jabber, look elsewhere. This app is for those who already have a deep understanding of mathematics. Just once, I'd like to see an app writer come up with one that lets the rest of us on board by explaining concepts in plain language, using analogies, animations or whatever else it takes to help the rest of us break through.
I'm a pre-med student and this app helps out a lot when it comes to consolidating the eq. I need when doing homework and practicing / solving problems in calc-based physics etc. It also goes all the way back to pre-algebra for those needing to refresh!
As a software engineer, I find myself using this app often as a quick reference for questions in statistics, calculus, and physics when I'm working on a variety of problems. I've been using it for about 4 years, and haven't looked back. In fact it gets better and better with updates. Always the first app I install on my Android.
