Enigma — UFO & UAP Sightings Reviews

    • Great app with a lot more potential

Pros: -The network effect significantly enhances the app's value. Numerous reports come in daily, and I find it enjoyable to browse the map for new sightings. This dynamic nature keeps the app engaging and informative. -The classification of sightings into various categories helps in effectively organizing and managing the reports. It makes it easier for users to filter and find specific types of sightings, enhancing the user experience. Cons: -Video Playback Issues: Videos can freeze and are often slow to load. Attempting to fast forward can completely disrupt the video player, making it difficult to view the footage properly. For example, if I try to skip ahead to see the most interesting part of a sighting video, the player often glitches and requires a restart. -Misidentification of Common Objects: Many sightings, especially on the West Coast and Southeast, can often be attributed to Falcon rockets or Starlink satellite trains. For instance, when there is a cluster of sightings near Pennsylvania, I'm almost certain that a Starlink train has passed overhead, even before opening the sightings. Although the app already informs users about commonly mistaken objects like these, integrating geolocation with Starlink train schedules and rocket launch schedules could further mitigate this issue. For example, if a user from Florida opens the app to report a mistaken Falcon launch, they should be alerted about the launch or satellite train relative to their location before proceeding with the report. This proactive alert system could significantly reduce the number of misidentified sightings. Suggestions: -Filtering for Map: I enjoy filtering through the data tab and believe this functionality should also be available for the map. For example, if I want to view only sightings of triangular objects or those reported at night, being able to apply these filters directly on the map would greatly enhance usability. It would allow users to focus on specific types of sightings without having to sift through irrelevant reports. -Identifying Related Sightings: Often, I find myself scrolling to find related sightings. A feature that identifies and links related reports could be highly beneficial. For instance, dual dots are often reported on Mondays and Fridays, starting on the West Coast and moving east around 9:30-10:15 PM on the East Coast. Implementing a predicted patterns feature would be incredibly helpful. This feature could analyze historical data to predict and alert users about potential sightings. For example, if certain patterns suggest that sightings of triangular objects usually occur in a specific area at a particular time, users could be notified to watch the sky at those times. Similar to how fishing apps predict the best times and species to catch, this feature could alert users about when and what to look for based on past trends. -Instantaneous Posting for Special Cases: While I understand the importance of reviewing reports before posting, special cases should allow for instantaneous or momentary posting. If multiple regional reports are submitted around the same time and describe similar attributes of a genuine UAP, the app could send geo-specific alerts and draw trajectory lines. For instance, if several users in New York and New Jersey report seeing a fast-moving, unexplained object around the same time, the app could immediately notify others in the region to be on the lookout. Creating a live forum automatically for such events would enable users to exchange real-time information about the object's location and trajectory. This could help more people prepare for a potential sighting, leading to better footage and more comprehensive data collection. A new tab could classify and display mass reports of the same object, offering a consolidated view of the event, which would be exciting and informative. Although this may be a challenging feature to develop, it could significantly enhance the app’s utility and user engagement. -Encourage Postings of Known Objects: Regardless of the guardrails put in place to stop mistaken reports, it would be beneficial to create a feature specifically for reporting and viewing known objects such as rocket launches and satellite trains. This feature can serve multiple purposes. For example, it can help users distinguish between actual UAPs and phenomena like expanding rocket gases in the upper atmosphere. A perfect example was a recent sighting of a Falcon rocket’s second stage reported in the Northeast. Currently, if I am looking for genuine UAP reports, it’s disappointing to encounter misidentified sightings of known objects. However, if there were a dedicated feature for casual launch videos and known objects, it would serve a dual purpose: filtering out incorrect reports and enhancing user engagement. For instance, this feature could notify users of upcoming rocket launches or satellite train passes in their area. Not only would this help filter out erroneous UAP reports, but it would also provide educational value and increase user engagement. Users would be encouraged to look up and observe these events, learning to differentiate between common aerial phenomena and potential UAPs.Furthermore, this feature could include alerts for significant events like a Falcon rocket launch, prompting users to go outside and witness these spectacles. This proactive approach would lead to better data quality in UAP reports while also fostering a community of informed and engaged users who are excited about sky-watching -Toggle Based Notifications: I obviously suggested a lot of “alerts” and “notifications” that can be sent to users. Allow for toggling which of these notifications you want to receive.
