Beautifully designed app that makes accessing a broad spectrum of news stories plus info about your government, politicians, elections or that might be hidden in the bizantium of web sites who knows where…gotta tell my friends about this asap.
This idea is concerning to say the least. While I applaud the creators for trying to bring verified citizens into a bot-free non-anonymous environment, it‘s highly unethical that I have better access to content (and even share content, talking about that „live“ feature) on a democracy platform if I am able to pay.
I like the idea of the app, but you can’t do much without paying for an upgraded version. I tried the basic version for the 30 day trial and you really can’t do much with it. It’s pretty much just another news aggregator. Additionally, the information seemed a little outdated. I live in Pennsylvania. Josh Shapiro is not a state representative anymore. He was elected governor almost a year ago.
App looks nice and would be helpful but it’s probably just a data mining platform, App requires your full name and DOB for sign up (ok most things do that’s fine) but also asks for your income, education level, number of kids, what kind of job you have, your political affiliation, religious identity, and ADDRESS (will come back to this) and a bit more, also requires a verified email/Phone number to “contribute to the app” not sure what that means but you won’t let you block other uses without it but ALSO even once you do that it requires you to let it grab your current GPS location to “contribute” but i’m not contributing by just blocking someone on my own account and best yet you can like posts without GPS… if the app was truly for Democracy they would understand there are a lot of people who want your political data and wouldn’t require it to be entered to use the app, i understand they can tailor the app more too you if you do put it in so asking is fine but requiring it isn’t and MOST OF ALL requiring a GPS location (even after putting an address in) is down right stupid. cool concept but from a data privacy perspective total failure.
I like the idea of having all of these government resources available on 1 app. As a news junkie, aside from live cameras only newsrooms have access to, things like this are great to have.
