Only compatible with 2.4 ghz wifi (not a big deal for me)
I just bought the Connect Hub today, marvelous piece of equipment. If I didn’t have the Weber igrill previously I might rate the app as a 2.5/3; But the connect app is disappointing with its lack of features in comparison to the igrill app. Miss the graph cook tracking, and many features like widgets for your Android, or Google Watch to check at a glance. I would love to see the Connect and Igrill apps blend together and become 1, or at least add all of the igrill features to the connect app - the connect has a much higher price point and should have the greater feature list.
I own a Weber E435 and purchased a smart grilling hub to go with it. I also own a Smokefire smoker, which has the probe feature built in. Turns out the Weber app can support only one device at a time. It requires me to delete the Smokefire to use the hub, and vice versa. Weber dev team, please solve that problem soon. Otherwise, it’s a great app and system.
Straight out of the box I can even update the software of the Webber connect thermometer. It just crashes every time.
I’ve owned it for about 2 years and the Weber Connect Hub is a solidly made piece of hardware. I like the rechargeable battery, the ability to accommodate up to 4 probes and the easy, plug and play set up for the probes. Just plug one in and the device turns on and starts reading. I also love the fact that I can connect it to Wifi. It allows me a little more range. I do feel that the Hub firmware requires updates just a little too often. It seems like every time I want to use it I end up having to unplug all the probes and allow it to update before I can continue using it. The app that goes along with the Hub has improved greatly since I first bought it but I still think it could use some improvement. I used the Weber igrill mini before this and I loved the ability to track the length of a cook in the igrill app. You could switch between displaying the temp or a graph of the cook. I WISH THE CONNECT APP COULD DO IT TOO! The igrill app also works with Google Watch which Connect does not. As long as Weber has 2 different apps with the same purpose there will always be frustration that one has functionality the other doesn’t.
