Another great app by Beemoo, LLC !! This app provides a FREE option to utilize only a few out of the 28 categories. That is not enough!!!! In the purchased version you are able to use all 28 categories, but if this doesn’t convince you DEFINITELY check out the free one for yourself Yet again another app that engages my students in a motivating and fun way. It provides multiple ways to use the target items within each category to increase vocabulary knowledge. The technicality of the application is awesome. You are able to choose among categories and combine categories together in formats like a sorting, find it, which does not, belong?, memory match, and flashcards. There are no bugs so it makes the app easy to use, just like the articulation bundle they have in the App Store. This makes everything 100% more enjoyable as technological difficulties during this time can add lots of extra stress in our day to days… something I experienced with other speech apps (i.e., they tend to close out/ freeze on me during the day). How I use the 28 Categories App: I begin with the flash cards to introduce categories. We go through each item and describe (i.e., Category-Function-Attributes). I then combine 2 categories at first (and increase as we progress) within games to assess my student’s knowledge. Easy planning and the students continue asking to play! It would be awesome if we were able to add our own categories and submit them for others to download, but regardless this was a STEAL of saving my time wisely. Most importantly, it has been a great way to increase categorical knowledge as it provides clear-cut ways for students to organize a schema in the multiple opportunities practicing the vocabulary taught.
The concept of this app is great. However, in my opinion the cost doesn’t match up! I really feel that you should have access to more common categories rather than for them to be locked!
I really like this app. I would easily have given it 5 stars... but in the People category I can’t help but wonder why all of the drawings are cartoons except for the dancer who is drawn realistic and with cleavage...
Love this app for teaching logical thinking and vocabulary. My son loves this one.
The app is clean and simple. My five-year-old will spend a good amount of time with me on the app, building vocabulary and differentiating between categories. It’s a great learning tool for overall development. We also downloaded many of the other apps this developer has available for speech practice. If you’re using an Android and having difficulty upgrading to the premium version, try turning off dark mode in settings. When I was unable to upgrade, the developers took less than 24 hours to respond and come up with a solution. My family will be relying on these apps for years to come, as we work on speech development for our special needs daughter who has Kabuki Syndrome.
