I used Evernote when they were still in beta ‘09/‘10, and generally loved it, till they really left their first love… the note. Can’t even remember how many times I reached out to support for simple formatting using markdown and adding a block quote option. These were never even entertained by Evernote, even when they redid the whole app! So after careful investigation, the top four were sucking it up and dealing, Nimbus, Simple Note, and UpNote! I wanted something that was cross platform, allowed for synchronization, didn’t rob you blind, and kept to the basics. I wanted to take notes, import notes, and save webpages as notes. It’s taking a bit, but Up Note has it all!
UpNote is a delight. It has enough Notion style back-linking and formatting to let me make a personal notes system, syncs between all my devices, and is available offline. Using UpNote is so simple and keeps me productive. I love the collapsible sections! The premium version is a cheap one time payment. I looked through dozens of notes apps to find UpNote’s balanced and intuitive features, and I highly recommend it to anyone.
This is the closest app you can find to replace Evernote…with one caveat: the attachments for files and pictures don’t always work. They take forever to upload, or “can’t get accessed because it’s not uploaded.” I’ve reached out to the developer and have had no response yet, so once that gets fixed, I’ll update it back to a 5 star.
This app is very polished and well thought out! I am thoroughly enjoying using it.
