This is a really cool app that should have many users. There is just 1 flaw that I can’t seem to find answer to. If the solution is there it needs to be more obvious. How many hours would you have to breathe in the air for it to be equivalent to the estimated amount of cigarettes? This information means nothing to me because I am assuming you would have to breathe that air in for a 24hr time period for it to equate to the estimated number, which I doubt very many people are doing. If this is not the case and it is less than a 24hr period I’m sure these numbers would hit home with a lot more people. Also the likely hood of people to share this apps information would probably increase. I think the estimated number should be adjustable based on the number of hours spent outside. I also understand the AQI is a consistently fluctuating number but I would say the average stays within a reasonable range of the starting 24hr time period.
I LOVE this app. It’s an easy and interesting way to see the air quality near me. However, out of nowhere, it has stopped updating the AQI near me. It says the nearest station was updated 4 months ago, despite it being updated and working yesterday.
I have downloaded and used all the air quality apps in the Google store. This is one of my top 2 favorites because the data is updated frequently and the information is easy to understand. Also you can drill down to really detailed data if you want, and the transparency helps you decide for yourself whether the numbers are legit. All in all, 5 stars. Keep up the good work.
11/27/2018 The quick response to bug reports makes this great idea a 5-star app! 11/9/2018: Latest update supposedly fixed a bug calculating with AQI instead of PM 2.5 ug/m3 concentration, but today’s estimate of 8 cigarettes is derived from AQI=181 instead of 5 cigarettes based on a concentration of 113.6 PM 2.5. Maybe I don’t understand what airnow is reporting, and 181 is actually PM 2.5 ug/m3. Their labeling seems ambiguous. I’m giving one star to get your attention and will update it based on an explanation.
Really solid app. Can’t be sure how accurate the conversion is, but seems reliable.
