Where is the update to 1Password 8? I'll be set to cancel this year if not updated on the app store and just use something else.

  • Good Product Overall

I've been a staunch 1Password user forat least 14 years now and I switched my entire family over to it as well. However, they've slowly been "encouraging" users to switych to yet another subscription and starting with the latest release (8.x) a subscription is required. Its not just the added expense of a subscription but the attitude that you never avctually own it. I've purchased many new versiona of 1Password over the year just to help support the company and good service but being forced to subscribe is the end for me. When I switched from eWallet (on PC) to 1Password (on Android) I never thought I'd see eWallet again but they now have a Android version that only costs $20. Even better yet if you look at the reviews here for 1password 2 things jump out: FIRST their rating is only 3.2 while eWallets is 4.0. I can't speak to recent use of eWallet but 1password has become somewht "deilcate" as quality declines. SECOND: the 1Password folks collect quite a lot of data from their app - and its linked to my private info! eWallet does not collect any of my data. If I weren't already using 1Password I'd never buy it just for this reason alone! Even worse, and I haven't tried this one yet since I'm still on 7.x with my permananet license. 1Password subscription stores my data (albeit encrypted) on their servers, not on iCloud. iCloud syncing has been wonderful on all my devioces and I use it for everything. There is no reason to switch to yet anohter private (AKA Lock-in) cloud service. Being locked-in to iCloud is like being locked-in to breathing these days so its fine. I still love 1Password even though their data collection is troubling, but the company has really staryed from modern core vlues these days.

  • Not 24 support as advertised

Brand new account and problems right away. Tried the 24 hour help and it's no more than automated FAQ. There is no 24 hour live support. There are just a TON of unhappy longtime customers writing reviews here. I'm kinda surprised that Google considers this app "Editors Choice". Other App Store password mgt. apps must be awful if this is editors choice.

  • Product Heading in the Wrong Direction

I’ve been an extremely happy 1Password user for years (pro subscriber, at that!!). It’s user friendliness is without peer, it makes it super easy to recover when my hard drive has crashed (several times). That said, I’m not willing to pay for a subscription, regardless of the value proposition. I don’t care how many cents per day, or week, or month it is. Everybody wants a subscription these days, and when everyone does it, the model is not feasible for me as a consumer. I’ll gladly go back to being a pro subscriber when I’m offered a 1 time purchase option for full functionality. I’ll even pay every single version. Until then, the account that's free is the account for me. UPDATE: The switch to v8 has added more frustration. It's an Electron app, which is a "write once use cross platform" framework. While the UI is generally more logical than it was in v7, it feels odd in a way that's hard to quantify (same on Windows). Call me a purist, but I just don't like using v8. I really don't care if v8 is on the App Store or not, but a native UI REALLY needs to come back.

  • What's going on with this app?

I've been using 1Password since about when it launched. It has been my goto password manager. But I don't know what's happening with it now - is it not being updated? It works fairly well on my Mobile and Android...but the OSX app seems to just....not work. When I mouse over a password field, the app appears like it should; but when I click on it to fill in a password notthing happens-no option to touch unlock or even enter the app password so I can access my logins. Seems like there are multiple versions of the Safari extension also-which one is the righr one - the one the app tries to install, the one that is an extension??? I'm not a computer novice, I used to work as third tier support in IT. I'm done trying to troubleshoot this.
