I have been using the Simple Note widget for ages. A massive annoyance post catalina is the loss of widgets. So much nicer to hit a hot corner and have access to a whole suite of things in there place including simplenote which synced perfectly across all my devices rather having to open a GD app or do a browser search for every one of those functions. So when boneheads pointless killed Dashboard/widgets (almost at the same time they started introducing them in IOS (⩺_⩹) my workflow was significantly hit, simplenote widget being a big part of that. There is the simplenote app but now it has to be open and running, I have to alt tab through everything or pick it out of mission control to get to the actual Simplenote so that instead of being out of the way yet always ready-at-hand it is now harder to get to and often in the way. I found scratchpad and thought “Joy!”. Now I have a replacement that can live in notifications center (not quite as good as dashboard but almost as easily accessible). Since simplenote had been free and amazing for so long I was quite happy to pay 1.99. for scratchpad. (Still am. Would not be seeking a refund even if it was more expensive because the simplenote widget had be just that awesome and appreciated) But while I thought I was paying for smart notebook like the simplenote widget had been I basically got a single dumb piece of paper. Where simplenote widget had a running of list of every note ever (if I didn't delete it) as well as checklist, version history, perfect syncing with sharing options in a clean intuitive unencumbered design with everything in front of you in the app, scratchpad is a single place to write ONE single note with none of the above features. Scratchpad just needed to be simplenote widget/app but in the notification center, but has failed to do that in just about every way possible.
Discovered Scratchpad after looking around for a quick way to jot notes/ideas from the notification center. So helpful when on zoom calls and ideas throughout the day. Love that it exports to Notes pretty well but to latest Evernote, not working. Will be 5-stars when it does. Bug/Improvements: - In Today/Notifications widget, TextExpander does not work. When on desktop, works. - Export to latest Evernote - Work with latest Android (Not yet upgraded to BigSur) Rinat, please consider continuing development on this gem. Will recommend to all my geeky friends. Thanks so much! ❤️ Edit: Upgraded to Big Sur today. Found another that's a better fit called SideNotes.
Thank you for this super simple, super useful utility. I use(d) it to take quick notes all the time from the sidebar, but sadly it's missing from my life since upgrading to Big Sur because it's not compatable the new widget system. You can still use it from the menubar, but it's just not the same. Would give it an instant 5-stars if it's ever updated as a widget.
not seeing the widget in my widget section. I am currently running a MBP16, M1, Big Sur 11.0.1
Meets my exact use case (quick note taking). Love not having to open an app, create a note, save, etc. Love the ability to quickly swipe and add a passing thought before I lose it. Minor feature request - Would love to have rich text formatting (specifically bold, underlines, and italics).
