I udpated Elan Viewer to the latest version 8.7 (v8.7.4912) when it was released and now my Elan viewer doesn't work. I can no longer access my Elan system or manage any of my Elan devices - it rejects my attempts to connect. I had to downgrade to the prior version 8.6 (v8.6.055) to get it working again.
I was hoping the update I downloaded today (Feb 22) was going to fix the issue where the images do not display.... but nope... still not working. The app loads without showing thr room or device names... they appear in a flash and then disappear.
Thiis is a very poor application. (Saw a 5 star review where the writer was happy it existed at all, but that's too low a standard.) Crashes a lot. Doesn't tolorate window resizing or full screen mode, which I really want since adding security cameras. Doesn't even support two finger touchpad scrolling. Just a barebones port of the panel software without the minimum changes I'd expect to adapt to a mouse interface. I have a Windows laptop too and one of the only things I get it out for is reviewing security camera recordings because the Windows version, while otherwise not much better, at least supports full screen mode. Tip for users of the new M1-based Macs: the Mobile version (Elan 8) can run on M1 machines and it operates identically, but doesn't seem to have all the crashes.
It's the same functionality as my in home, but not nearly as reliable. Crashes 50% of time or doesn't produce all the images. It wont store a password so it has to be input every time. Frustrating when on the way home and would like to turn on something without pulling over. I'd like to have Elan give me access to the real remote software to load on my Android and PC without having to go through my service provider at $95/ hour since I paid the SW license fee. Beware of free download sites.
App crashes on High Sierra upon selecting video tab.
