    The New Yorker Reviews

    • Constantly unlinks subscription

Every time I open the app it unlinks my digital subscription. Must log in every time whenever I open an article. Infuriating

    • Subpar maintenance

EVERY MONTH begins with the app denying my subscription, even though I’m signed in and paid up. So I contact support, they reset something. I start reading again. New month - rinse and repeat. This company is lazy. Moreover, they don’t seem to attend to longtime readers/subscribers like me. After writing to them at the start of every month since March, I don’t think they’re listening. Come July I’ve deleted the app and gone to my browser to reach my subscription. Their replies feel like auto-generated pap. They never solve the problem. Good luck to you if you try this app. I’m OUT! Yes, look at their response below - automated nonsense that suggests I contact support, even though this review mentions contacting support frequently this year. They clearly don’t care and aren’t paying attention. I will never purchase anything from Condé Nast ever again. I love the New Yorker, so I hold my nose and use the webpage version. I’m OUT OUT OUT!

    • Not an improvement at all

Kept getting notices about the pending change and transfer to a new app. Extremely disappointed. Especially how you present the cartoons — lousy.

    • A disservice to TNY

[Update July 9th, 2022] Now even more broken! I have renewed my subscription to TNY (which I still love, despite the app developers’ best effort to make me stop reading it) but, alas, it seems impossible to regain access to the content, including my already purchased issues. I didn’t think that this app could get any worse, but here we go. This hideous monstrosity of an app is doing a real disservice to the fine writers and editors of TNY. I just spent two weeks in a remote, internet-free location, staring at the screen of my Mobile that, rather than allowing me to read my already downloaded issues of the magazine, kept asking me to sign into the TNY account. The old version of the app, while far from perfect, at least allowed for true offline reading. This one, alas, not only removed that ability but also appears to rob subscribers of the issues that they already own, upon the expiration of their subscription. What a shame.

    • Browsers Usurping Apps?

Recently it seems, email links from the New Yorker crossword puzzle are opening a window in my browser rather than going to the app, where it is much easier to work on the puzzle. This does not happen with other email links to other apps (e.g. the New York Times) so I am guessing there was a change somewhere. I would be grateful for a fix.
