I am taking online courses for Java programming and this lightweight tool is perfect for what I need. If you want a ton of features I suggest another editing tool. But if you want a simple tool to write Java code in this is perfect for the following reasons: 1. When learning to write code you don't want a heavy tool that helps you too much. This does not autocomplete, suggest what to write, etc so this makes it better for learning. 2. It is not too heavy. While some people may want many features that can be overwhelming with too many options and customizations that aren't always necessary. This loads quicker windows minimize fast due to its small footprint. 3. It is better for programming than the most basic text editor that comes with a Android. While I don't need a ton of features it is nice to have the barebones basic such as bracket assistance and intuitive indentation functionality. It also gives the option to save as a "java" file. Just the basics which are always needed when using for Java code. Please don't change a thing. There are many other programs with many more features so that is well covered. It took me a while to find a basic program like this with some minor functionality for programming.
All I really wanted was a great GUI text editor with syntax highlighting for the Android, like Kate on KDE or Notepad plus plus on Windows. Seems like all the other options are project-based or an IDE and massive overkill for what I actually needed, and TextEdit is not that great for plain text files. This is exactly what I was looking for, and it's free!
Fast and clean. Perfect for what I need: just opening and editing standalone css, xml, and html files.
I use VSCODE as my day to day development environment but sometimes you just want to look at or edit one file. Maybe even while you are VSCODE in another window. This editor is blindingly fast and perfect as my second editor.
It does exactly what it says, and does it well. This is not meant to be code editor like VSCode though. It's just for light weight text editing.
