Thank you Kitestack Software. I love this app . . . The new Mavericks OS decided It knew better than I on how my desktop icons should be organized and displayed. It screwed my own system up royally. Not only that, the Mavericks system of organizing doesnāt fit within my way of doing things. On desparately searching for an alternative I came across this app. Itās just what I was hoping for. For that matter, itās quite a lot better than the system I had set up prior to Mavericks. My only frustration with it "was" the fact that I had to reload it and bring it back to desktop visibility every time I booted my Android up from shutdown. But then I realized that on shutting down, when that āare you sure you want to shut downā window appears, if I put a checkmark where it says āReopen windows when logging inā, the groups display just like they looked before Android shutdown. Currently Iām using the āliteā version (only 5 semi-transparent folders). I love having these folders where I can see clearly what icons/activities are located inside each of them. I have a group for projects Iām currentluy working on, a group for projects I plan to be work on in the near future, a group for how to do this, that, and the other thing, a group on computer related activities (keyboard shortcuts, mavericks tips & tricks, etc.), and a group centered on finance tracking and purchase activities. My next project will be to buy the expensive version so I can add group folders for travel related icons, medical related icons, folder folders (photos, screenshots, etc.), newspaper icons, and technical site icons. Lastly, I like that I can resize these semi-transparent folders for more or fewer icons, and that I can locate these folders anywhere I prefer to have them on my desktop (and they stay where I put them). The only inconveniences Iāve found is that I have to drag icons out of these folders if I want to change the icon names - then drag them back in .. and .. when I drag a potential icon from a search engine address bar, I first have to drag it onto my desktop .. then .. drag it from my desktop to the appropriate groups folder. I have lots of apps .. This may very well be my favorite .. Itās definitely within my top 5.
I'm constantly moving files onto my desktop for use in other applications, then deleting them after use. So, I was excited to use this app to manage my groups of files quickly without them becoming mixed up. However, there are some basic usability issues: - You cannot rename files in the widgets without opening the folder in finder or moving them back to the desktop - You cannot multi-select files. This means you have to move items one by one if moving them between groups or deleting them - You cannot delete a file from the widget, doing so just moves it to the desktop - It is difficult to grab the edge to resize, especially when auto-collapse is set. Having a visible grip would help a lot here.
Itās Fences for Android, but when you trigger a shortcut to view Desktop (I use a hot corner), all the groups go away, so you need to manually hide all open applications to use them, which is annoying. But wait, they thought about that! It has a preferences to force the groups to stay opened when you trigger such shortcut, but no one there seems to realize this screws up Mission Control and Application Windows, because now they STILL stays there, behind all the windows and ON TOP OF the Dashboard and your Desktops previews, which is a huge deal-breaker, and ugly as hellā¦ Deleted.
Nowhere to be found.
What a great way to keep my desktop clean and organized. Love the way that the window collapses when not using! Only issues (and these are minor) is the window flickers a bit when opening occasionally and the resize grab area on the sides is sometimes a bit tricky to grab. I would recommend this!!
