excellent
I wanted a simple program to replace my Golf Digest 4.0 handicap program which Bob Parsons no longer supports. The 4.0 program is a PC program and to use this program on a Android I have to fool around with Parallels. I figured the Eagle Android-only program would be a good replacement—Boy was I wrong! The guts of the program is on the Google app site—not on your Android. The Android has an Eagle alias. I am unable to see my Eagle input on my other computer located at my summer residence. I have to return to my other Android located at my other residence to see any input. The alias located on iCloud has no data. The data entries for each scorecard is time consuming. Also I can not find any players index/handicap after data input. It appears the player(s) must have a bonafide index from some paid PGA source. My league is a bunch of guys who just play golf weekly. I don’t recommend spending $40 for a program you can not use.
Though the app doesn’t do everything I need to run a monthly tournament of 30 golfers, the support is outstanding. I receive a response from the developers usually within the day. The 200 page user manual is a bit daunting to go through, but the developers were available to answer my questions. I was previously using the USGA/GHIN TPP application running under Window’s emulation on my Android. Glad to now be on a native Android application.
difficult to use-doesn’t do handicaps…you have to have one already
I've used Eagle for a number of years to keep my golf stats and monitor my USGA handicap. Our ladies golf association has scored their annual member-guest event with the software several times. It works great, provides all the features you need to pre-register players, maintain current handicaps, do pairings, prepare scorecards, starters lists and cart signs, then have a simple way to enter all the scores quickly - even with a shotgun start where everyone finishes at the same time - and finally produce results, using tie-breakers, flights, etc. Now I'm in charge of our ladies' weekly playday, and I am using Eagle to plan and score each outing. Eagle can't do all our formats (like most putts, or goofy golf), but it can handicap and score a huge number of different kinds of play. The software gets updated regularly, works exactly as advertised (and described in a 200+ pages pdf users manual), and is well supported. I know software that tries to do what Eagle does costs pro shops many hundreds of dollars. If you need to score golf on the Android, there's nothing else close.
