Busuu for Android

I’ve been trying many apps to learn German and only Busuu gets the right amount of explanations and fun. Recommended.

I’ve enjoyed my time with this app and have a subscription but I have a few major issues. First, the feature of being able to add new words introduced during the lessons to your vocabulary list is VERY inconsistent. I simply don’t understand why it will allow you to add only some of the vocabulary that is introduced to your saved list. This is a major problem for me as I must go back and review vocabulary words to retain them. There also seems to be a glitch with how it determines whether a word is weak, medium, or strong. For example, the word Entschuldigung will simply never switch from weak for me no matter how many times I review it correctly. Finally, I wish whatever algorithm they use to determine which words in the review section popped up during practice was better at varying the words more consistently. Having said that, I am definitely enhancing my knowledge of the German language with Busuu. Update: Lowered to 2 stars from 3 stars as I’ve now encountered multiple entire lessons with vocabulary that inexplicably cannot be added to the review section. I simply cannot retain these lessons without the ability to review vocabulary. I will be cancelling my subscription. They also don’t have a feedback mechanism to suggest a fix.

The mix of exercises, tips, and speaking, reading and writing is really easy to follow. The app is great so far!
