Storyist 4 for Android

I love using Storyist. The app is great and helps me stay organized and focused while I'm writing.

Spend a few minutes getting to know the basics of this fantastic program and from then on you will find all you need to do is sit down, click on the app icon and begin creating. I've used Storyist for years now and it allows you to get as detailed as you want or simply start writing and see where it leads. There's nothing better to me than an app that just works and doesn't get in your way. It's affordable for all that it provides and with cloud syncing whatever Google device I'm using my file is there and ready in a moment's notice. (The iOS App is a small extra fee to be fair.) I used Final Draft for decades for scripts, and even though I use Storyist for Novels and Short Stories, I would choose Storyist for a screenplay if the chance came back around. It's an all around wonderful and well managed piece of software. If you are just getting started or have been in the game a long time don't hesitate to give this one a try.

ok so, i cant type!!! i dunno if u have to buy the thing to type... but im not gonna pay 55 bucks just to type! but if thats not the case then can u tell me how to type on it. bc i was really looking forward to doing it. So if someone could pls help me that would be wonderful! but i have to say one star bc i never got to experience the amazingness about this app that everybody likes! It seems like a very orginized app in all. but the whole point of a writing a book app is to type. Like it said all the stuff about how to write a book and stuff like that. I tried to delete all the words but it wouldnt delete them. And how am i suppose to type if it doesnt let me type. Now im horrible at tech stuff so it is probably just me but still. So if the owners of this could pls help me that would be wonderful. Thank you for reading!

I have used Storyist for 5 years now. It's so simple to learn and while it has all the same features as "the other guy's" it doesn't have those same features constantly in your field of vision. And best of all is storyist's promp responses from the customer service team when you get stuck and need help figuring something out. Highly recommend this for anyone wanting to write any size projets and keep it organized! It's actually easier to learn then "Word."

This is a quietly amazing product. I have bought, or subscribed, to several others, including Final Draft, and this one just does it all for a very low, one time price. Some important features: The Android version syncs flawlessly with the iOS version via iCloud, and Dropbox, and I suppose other cloud services. The iOS version does not appear to lack any features present in the Android version, at least that I have found. This means that work initiated your desktop, can be picked up on your Mobile, or even your phone, and you won't be frustrated by a pared-down version. This includes, btw, another extremley important feature which is the ability to flip from script to index card views. The index cards are topped by a scene heading, while the card has your notes about the scene. The index card view allows conceptualizing and jotting down the script as a series of scenes, with notes, bits of dialogue, intention, etc. before actually worrying about the precise dialogue or formatting details. The software gets out of the way so that you can just visualize and get your ideas down without distractions from the software itself. Not all screenwriting apps have an index card view, or they are poorly implemented. Storyist does this wonderfully: You can reorganize scenes simply by reorganizing the index cards. Further, you can color code the index cards, and the index cards are fully visible, (even on my Mobile Mini,) while you are working on the actual script. A column on the left has the cards. You work on the script in a right-hand column. If you jump to another card, the script jumps for you. Thus, you can review your cards, one by one, and reorganize them, all while writing the formatted script. It's quite amazing, a frictionless way to get your script done. Note that, a widely used competitor, the vaunted and very expensive Final Draft does not have an index card feature at all in the iOS version, and the iOS version is otherwise pared down from the Android version. Further, FD is extremely expensive to buy, but also with frequent expensive upgrades, each of which costs more than Storyist. I kept upgrading mine for years, until I started thinking about the actual cost over time, which is immense. It was too expensive, and did not work adequately on my iPads. With Storyist, it's buy once. The Storyist features go on and on: You can add notes to scenes, for others to review. There is a very useful "Outline View," which shows the contents of index cards, with scene headings, in a list format. The text is fully formatable, should you wish to deviate from standards screenplay formats. There are templates for novel writing, for stage plays, and for other generic projects also. There are sheets within the script folder for notes, title pages, character sketches, scene notes, and any thing you could possibly want. I've spent a great deal of time looking into the best software for screenwriting for the Google ecosystem. There are a lot of temptations, including online script writing apps, and other applications both inexpensive and expensive. I have tried most of them. I've set them all aside, and use only this. It's got everything for a one time price, it's reliable, with amazing features, and, I forgot one more thing: It's got great, fast tech support. I've had questions answered on Sundays, in a matter of hours. I come from the tech world, and when something is well done, especially software, I get excited, as you can sense from my review. Storyist is great! As another review commented, I am a fan.
