6 things about Standard Notes

1. Standard Notes is completely open-source, which means when we say your notes are encrypted with industry-leading XChaCha-20 encryption, and that only you can read your notes, you don't have to take our word for it.
2. It allows you to write and sync your notes across all your devices, including your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and web browser.
3. Private means your notes are end-to-end encrypted, so only you can read your notes.
4. Standard Notes is a private and secure end-to-end encrypted notes app.
5. • The ability to pin, lock, protect, and move notes to trash, which allows you to recover deleted notes until the trash is emptied.
6. Our focus is making it easy to write notes wherever you are and syncing them with encryption to all your devices.

  • No really, it IS the BEST!

I can’t believe all the options available for a free app. I absolutely love it. After using so many other note apps, this meets all my requirements. It’s professional, slick looking, and efficient. Thank you dev for hooking me up. Zi. 👍🏾to AstroGirlBunny’ review and your honest and kind response.

  • Updated Review

Updated review: overall great app, would like more features though I appreciate the commitment to privacy. Had one instance of being locked out after an update. Issue resolved after new update next day. No data lost. Also appreciate the relatively prompt response for assistance through email.

  • Absolutely incredible app

I've been looking for this exact app for several years. It does everything simply, quick and perfectly. Plain text, synchronized immediately and flawlessly between disparate devices, all the while encrypted. Perfect, my friend. Bravo. Update: Still awesome. If you want to write info without people spying on you, get this app. If you want to keep track of passwords etc., get this app. If you are a doctor, lawyer, priest etc. and people trust you with their info yet you need access to the info easily, get this app.

  • Bug Still Not Fixed

The app does not remember the last reading/editing position, after going into background and returning to it. Instead, it auto-scrolls to the top of the note. This recent bug has made it completely unusable.

  • Worth buying. Worth using.

First things first: this is a professional-quality app made by people who know what they’re doing. Ease of use, cross-platform, sync without giving up privacy, it’s in there. Five stars. Oh, and markdown-aware, which is a great bonus. I use it pretty much every work day, mostly for meeting notes, personal brainstorming, and half-finished writing that I want to get back to “later.” It’s not perfect, though. I’m writing this review not only to motivate you to buy it, but also because I strongly suspect the devs actually read this stuff, and I want to see it get better. In particular, there’s been a spate of development activity around (among other things) a dynamic (WYSIWYG) markdown mode, which is as far as I can tell implemented as a plugin (as are all the various editing modes). Lately, that mode has been giving me some trouble: slow loads and even app hangs. Now, here’s the thing: given the pace at which they iterated and rolled this out, I imagine it’ll get fixed soon. And in the meantime, it’s no big deal to just go back to the other older editing modes, and keep carrying on. Again, professional-quality: even when there’s a problem, it doesn’t have to slow you down. I’m just saying: after you buy it, be aware that there are a few new bells and whistles that are more bleeding-edge than bulletproof. Thankfully, the bulletproof stuff is all still there too. All in all, I’d be happier if more dev teams did work of this quality. If it meets your use case(s), just buy it. Forget “you won’t regret it.” It’s more like “You won’t really think about it, and a bunch of stuff will get easier for you.” Which is, in my view, higher praise.
