This app has been indispensable with my recent parties I’ve been hosting. As the bartender for my events, it’s allowed me to take my cocktail game to the next level. It was an easy choice to subscribe given the app’s value in this space. I am, however, very disappointed when it comes to content creation in this app. There are features here I’ve been trying to make use of to no avail. So far I have created a few ingredients that I didn’t find listed. Of those, almost all disappeared moments after saving them. Worse yet, creating a new cocktail this morning, I spent a good deal of time copying down all the pertinent info into the app, a detailed history, instructions, tasting notes, etc. Similarly to the mysteriously disappearing ingredients, my cocktail recipe, after saving and showing up for several minutes, mysteriously disappeared — never to be seen again. I would love to share more cocktails with the community and use them in the app for my own reference, but the time I take from my day to transfer these, only to see them disappear moments later, stops me in my tracks. I’m a busy man, and don’t have time to waste with flaky apps that don’t work. So while I will continue to use this as an excellent reference, the inability to depend upon it for adding missing content leaves me scratching my head as to where it fits into my workflow and rethinking that subscription. I had hoped it would be my one-stop-shop, but I think I’ll have to look elsewhere to record my menus and drink creations from other sources. Maybe these issues will be fixed in the future. Until then, 4 stars for a very useful reference. However, with content creation on the rocks, I can’t recommend it if your needs fall into that category.
The most comprehensive and well organized cocktail app on the market. Thousands of recipes! Includes a Mixel calculator to identify which ingredient will allow you to create the most new recipes at your bar
Mixel is fantastic. It’s definitely the best app I’ve found for finding drinks, but it isn’t perfect. For example, you can’t hide a recipe, which seems pretty basic. The problem is, I don’t think that’s going to change, and that frustrates me when I am paying a subscription. This is a popular app, there’s a lot of folks sending their monthly fee to the devs. That it is essentially passive income for them is just a little frustrating. I dunno. Mixel is the best option for this type of app, but it is probably exactly as good as it will ever get.
I love the art and creativity. I’m also very fond of the free options even though the paid options aren’t too expensive. I’d make it a 4.5/5 if I could. Things I’d like to see: - Options to add more backgrounds and glass types (even as paid add-on’s) - A one-time purchase option. I don’t like subscriptions, but I’d like all the good stuff if I could have it. - The ability to add specific brands of alcohol as ingredients (they could have a google plug to pull from public data.)
By far the best Mix App. Tons of recipes with a clean, intuitive, and fun UI. The search and filter work really good too so you’re not searching everywhere for things.
