WorldCard for Android

As of version 4.1, the activation process is either removed or done automatically - I never needed to enter a code nor is there a way to do so. So far all I have done is installed the software on OS 10.14, plugged in the card reader, and then used the scan wizard to scan a single business card. It scanned it properly and recorded the information, which is the most important part as far as I am concerned. I have not tested out any other features, so I cannot speak to any of the other problems people mention. My biggest problem is the setting up instructions. The reader only is detected when the scanner slot is popped open and the Worldcard software is running, and most of the instructions for the app that come in the card reader's box are devoted to the activation process that no longer exists. I give it 3 stars because of the poor startup instructions and because I have only tested the minimum functionality.

I have been using the Worldcard app on my Android(s) for years and find it very useful and convenient. I downloaded this for my desktop and hate the bait and switch so I am not even trying it. The phone app works just fine.

This is more like a virus than an app in that it causes more pain and frustration than actually does anything productive. I bought the scanner & SW license from amazon and was originally able to scan business cards in OS 10.12. Even then their OCR/ICR algorithm is sub-optimized to say the least and I wound up doing data entry on EVERY card I scanned — making me wonder why I even scanned it in the first place. I then upgraded to OS 10.13 and everything went south from there. Their database was incompatible with the new db type in 10.13 and no amount of emailing support made any difference. I’ve upgraded to every current version for Android OS (currently 4.0) and it still crashes EVERY TIME I try to feed a business card into the scanner, try to open any of the functions in the menu, etc. Support is non-existent in addition to being almost impossible to communicate with because of the language barrier. Someone PLEASE make software that uses the business card scanner. I can’t be the only one with this issue or the need for this application. Again, the need for this app exists, but THIS IS NOT THE APP YOU ARE LOOKING FOR.

Don’t call yourself free, if you require a registration code just to run the App. That’s bait and switch. Give the fee, and give the place to purchase it.
