Luckily some hikers found her and were able to call for help, but now she always uses HorseRiderSoS.” Simple to use, you just activate the app before heading off on your hack or when you’re working with your horse and there’s no one around. Your activity is monitored in ‘tracking mode’ as you ride or move around, and in the event of you becoming unseated, injured or unconscious, the app recognises when no movement is felt for a set time and will enter ‘Alert mode’ and send a message to your chosen ‘Buddy’ with your location, by text, email. Once ‘Alert Mode’ has been activated, the rider is notified and is then able to over-ride the system with a small movement if it’s not a genuine emergency. Thanks to the GPS capability of your smart-phone, once an alert has been triggered, your exact position can be detected so that you can be found without delay.
