You have traveled to the ancient Maya site of Tulum, Mexico to retrieve stolen artifacts from looters who want to sell them on the black market! It’s a race against time as players try to capture stolen artifacts by solving Common Core Standards-aligned math problems. This fast-paced scramble to save artifacts challenges students with math problems such as basic computation using base ten operations, number sense, and written expressions. If players accurately solve a math problem they recover a Mayan artifact and are presented with historically accurate descriptions of each one in the “Loot” section of the game. But get it wrong and a rare artifact might be lost forever! Loot Pursuit: Tulum seamlessly combines engaging math practice with culturally relevant historical artifacts and information to create a powerful cross-curricular experience.
