I love new camera Apps. As a street photographer and a photography buff, sometimes the phones is the only available camera to try something. So I will try almost any new app looking for a good match. Blackie is a great match. Is an App that converts basically the Android camera into a BW dream camera, including emmulating several popular BW Films. This is all great, and the results come with good quality. Actually I only have few issues with this version. First, it's a battery hog. When using it the Android will get warmer by the minute and if you are not careful the battery will be in lowbat mode quicker than expected. Second, volume buttons work oddly. The first button will change Film simulations, the second one, should take the picture, but it rarely does. It works sometimes and sometimes you miss the shot. The only sure mode seems to be to push the software button on the screen and that's sometimes uncomfortable. Third and final, working out how to setup the mods or custom modes is a bit awkward and there's no help to explain how to do it, so it's apparent the only way will be trial and error. That's an easy fix. I really hope the developer will keep the App lean and fast and will not fall for the silver pieces trying to setup many inapp buys to bloat it like the once wonderful Hipstamatic did. Kudos for Blackie, keep perfecting it, it's very close.
