How do you record yourself?
I use Karafun - the $7.99/mo version for karaoke parties at home. I run it on an 2015 Mobile Pro through a 2 channel mixer. The audio comes out the headphone jack to a RSA split in to the mixer, then I have a hand held microphone that connects to an XLR cable going in to the mixer. The audio comes out of the mixer into a floor monitor where we hear the sound. For pro karaoke gigs I use the pro version for I think $129 or $134 or something like that per month and I use that on my 2015 Android Pro. I use the headphone jack out of my laptop to RCA and I plug that into my 8 channel mixer. (sometimes I use bluetooth instead of the cable because my mixer can do that). For pro gigs I have a couple setups. Pre covid I used a 4 channel wireless mic system with each mic plugged into a separate channel on the mixer so I could control the gain, EQ, and effects for each singer and have up to 4 singers at a time. Then I had my own Mic on a standard XLR taking up one channel. Passive speakers for Left and Right including subs, and one active floor monitor so the singer can hear themselves on stage. Post Covid I use only one mic for the singer and one for myself on XLR each on separate channels. I don’t use the wireless because I don’t have as many singers. Duets and groups are not allowed anymore its too hard to sanitize equipment and control distance. People who rate karafun low because you need extra equipment really do not have any understanding of input/output sound on a computer. That isn’t karafuns fault. My biggest gripe is the pro version is buggy in a lot of ways and for that $$ I expect a bit more capability for a pro user. But it’s the best out there, especially the catalog and the rights/permissions to play songs and not get sued by UMG and BMI.
What kind of Karaoke app doesn't work with a Mic! waste of a subscription.
All in all, an amazing karaoke app!
I like their YouTube postings and use them when I post my own singing videos. Problem is, it's not like Smule! Sing. I want to find an app that replicates that one, but for Android. Smule, as much as I love them, don't have that feature. I thought Karafun would be a good substitute, but you don't record anything, so you can't post to a community. I'm a loner who takes singing seriously, so where's the fun in that?
